Early February I had to go to Aberdeen for couple of days on a work-related trip.
I didn´t know too much about the town, thought Aberdeen was a boring fishing and industrial town but I knew I would have some hours off, so I brought the camera, just in case. I usually try to bring the camera when I am travelling to a place where I have not been before or have no decent photos from.
To my surprise, Aberdeen is actually a lovely and charming old down obviously with lots of history.
I arrived in the afternoon, checked into the hotel and decided to take a walk through the town before finding something to eat. I walked through the town centre, passed the university and Castlegate, that looked very interesting.
I had heard about something called Footdee, that was supposed to be a charming are. I punched the name into google maps and it was less than 1km away, so I headed in that direction. The area became less and less interesting, dark industrial area, some kind of noisy shipyard where ships were being repaired. This did not look promising, but I continued as I had walked quite far anyway although things became less and less interesting.

Footdee
I just followed Googles instructions and suddenly the surroundings changed completely. In few steps I walked from an industrial area into a small old charming town.
Although I didn’t have much free time, I managed go out couple of times when the light was goo to shoot few photos. Especially when taking the time spent into consideration, I am quite satisfied with the result. I know now that I need to add Scotland on my list of areas to explore further.
